Bible Records of Thomas Adam Bowen and wife Susan Rebecca Fletcher Goulder

Thomas Adam Bowen was the son of Edwin H Bowen and Martha Lewis Meldrum. Edwin was the son of Asa Bowen and Charlotte Bowen. After her mother's death, Martha was raised in the home of Rev Thomas Adams. Her son Thomas Adam Bowen was named to honor him. Tom and Becky raised their family in Blackstone, Nottoway Co, VA and Raleigh, NC. After Becky died, Tom married as his second wife Martha Sydnor Parham and returned to Blackstone.

Susan Rebecca Fletcher Goulder Bowen was originally buried in the Thomas Adam Bowen plot at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC. A daughter, Annie Sue Lewis Bowen, was buried in the same plot four years later. Son Arthur Finn Bowen purchased a larger plot in the same cemetery and had the graves of his mother and sister moved. Many other members of the A. F. Bowen family have been buried in this plot through the years.

Thomas Adam Bowen and Martha Sydnor Parham were buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackstone, VA. Son Richmond Goulder Bowen and wife Petronella Thompson's graves are also in this cemetery, but in a different section.

The Thomas Adam Bowen Bible was in the possession of Nellie Glenn Bowen Kaempf and son Thomas Glenn Kaempf of Ft Worth, TX in 1997.
