This is the smaller one of the two sailfish we caught this trip. I fished 4 days with these two guys and had a great time.

Day 1...We caught yellow tail first, trying with a fly rod but not having much luck. Then found a school of bonita and caught 10-15.

Day 2....Jaime made Ceviche with the bonita as well as other seafood treats. It was delicious, especially since we weren't expecting this. We left an hour early from the dock and went for sail fish. I caught the first one on spinning tackle and 20 lb test line(see the photo below). It took about 30 minutes to bring it in. This first sailfish just missed 10 feet. We had 4 other shots but no takes that day.

Day 3....We went to the bank. It's 50 miles out. It's a shallow cone 70 feet down surrounded by water 400-500 feet deep. We caught one bonita in a school on the way out. Then caught about 25 yellow fin tuna over the next two hours. We quadrupled twice and tripled twice. I was the only angler on the boat so I did one hell of a lot of reeling.

Day 4.....We went for sails again. I caught Jaime making tuna ceviche while going out and quickly sliced up some tuna sushi to eat with soy sauce. What delicious food. The sails were much more active and we hooked 4 but only landed one. It was about 8 feet thought.

I didn't expect the fishing trip to include all the seafood that we ate. The Ceviche was made on the boat from fresh bonita caught the prior day and made from fresh tuna another day. Ceviche and beer..... I was in heaven. Didn't eat much in the evenings after all this. An excellent fishing trip.
