It seems like no matter where I fish, I always end up back at Andros. My favorite place to fish of all time. I've fished there more than 30 times now and have loved every minute of it. Many, many thanks to Charlie(tarpon and a shot at a Grand Slam), Simon(50+ bones in a day), Joel(letting me work at his lodge for 3 months and train the first female guide on the island), Barry(12 pound bone), Andy(not leaving me in the mud flats), Felix(finding our way out from behind Kayak mangrove), and all the other guides I know there. The 8 pounder made 3 full runs...each time taking over half the backing on my 9 wt. flyrod. The biggest is 12 lbs. I've cast to bonefish over 15 pounds but haven't caught him yet. For my money, there is no fishing that compares with flyfishing the saltwater flats. Barracuda, tarpon and lemon sharks were also available. I had a lemon shark on a 12 wt rod but never even turned his head.
